A-Zone field crews provided environmental soil and groundwater sampling using Geoprobe® direct push drilling equipment. A total of 34 monitoring wells totaling 1293 feet were drilled using a combination direct push/hollow stem auger drilling methods. A combination of air/mud/hollow stem auger rigs were used to install the deepest wells that could not be drilled by conventional direct push methods. Groundwater monitoring wells were constructed of 2-inch PVC screen and riser and completed with bollards made of 3-inch diameter schedule 40 steel, filled with concrete, and painted Safety Yellow. Well development and groundwater sampling followed the construction of wells. A-Zone managed the transportation of investigative derived wastes onsite.
A-Zone re-mobilized later to provide staff and equipment to abandon a total of nine monitoring wells in accordance with Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection regulations. A-Zone equipment operators stockpiled 100 cubic yards of stockpiled soil into tri-axle dump trucks. A-Zone was also responsible for the removal of an 8,000-gallon underground storage tank.
